Transact – BlackRock MPS update

Looking back at why we launched the Transact – BlackRock Model Portfolio Service, to provide greater investment choice at a lower cost, we are pleased that we will soon reach our one-year anniversary of the launch. This MPS is reported as BlackRock’s fastest growing with over £72m already invested as more firms use the service. At the beginning of October we will have one-year’s performance behind us to share.

When discussing the Transact – BlackRock MPS we find ourselves talking a lot about Aladdin – no not that one! At the heart of the Transact – BlackRock MPS is its disciplined and objective investment process which draws on BlackRock’s deep level of investment and risk expertise. This investment process is built on and made possible by Aladdin™.

What is Aladdin™?

Aladdin™ is BlackRock’s end-to-end portfolio management platform, combining sophisticated risk analytics with comprehensive portfolio management tools on a single platform. Aladdin™ monitors over 3,000 risk factors daily and has over 2,100 developers and product managers dedicated to it.

In a nutshell, with a single, standardised data set, Aladdin™ brings clarity, efficiency, and cost savings to the entire investment lifecycle – bringing a huge benefit to the service.

Portfolio 360

When you sign up to the Transact – BlackRock MPS we will offer you free access to Portfolio 360. Portfolio 360 is BlackRock’s new web-based tool powered by Aladdin™ that puts model portfolio review technology in your hands allowing you to easily analyse, compare, and stress test model portfolios. With Portfolio 360 you can:

  • Compare the performance and risk of the Transact – BlackRock MPS against your client portfolios.
  • View side-by-side the performance, ESG scores, characteristics, and risk.
  • Stress test the resilience of your proposals.
